Researching Your Family History?
For further information, the IOW Record Office has an extensive collection of
parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials from 1539 onwards as well
as churchwardens accounts and vestry minutes. Title deeds, account books,
surveys and maps of estates are available and records of inmates of the
workhouses and electoral registers can be viewed.
Researching your family history
There are maps from 1862, County Press newspapers from 1884 (on
microfilm) and census returns as well as school records and prints and photos
of the Island. The staff are very helpful – just sign in and they will assist you.
There is no fee to search.
